Surabaya to Singapore
It was my first time going to Singapore, and I used Scoot Airlines, a LCC under the Singapore Airlines group. The flight was from Surabaya, but the aircraft was big (3-3-3 seats) and everything was clean and very comfortable. The ticket was really reasonable — just 50 USD — but the arrival time was estimated around 23:30, and I was prepared to miss the last train and stay at the airport. However, my flight landed 30 minutes early and I passed immigration in just 5 minutes!! I'd heard the airport in Singapore is well organized and automated, but it was still an amazing experience. I was able to catch the last train to the central area. I was in such a rush that I forgot to take pictures at the airport lol.

Downtown in Singapore
What are the popular destinations in Singapore? Merlion, Universal Studios, Botanic Gardens, Chinatown... This time I went to places you can enjoy for free.
Merlion is one of the most popular spots for travelers, and I went there in the afternoon. The Merlion itself was a bit smaller than I imagined, but the scale of the financial buildings behind it had quite an impact. I could also see Marina Bay Sands, another icon of Singapore, from this area.

Personally, I loved Singapore Botanic Gardens. It's free entry and you can enjoy seeing many beautiful trees, flowers, and rainforest. It's really spacious and you walk outside the whole time, so I recommend going in the morning!

Food in Singapore
The scariest thing on my mind was the cost of living in Singapore. It's known as one of the most expensive countries in the world, and it was actually true. It's around 3 times more expensive compared to other Asian countries...

However, you can enjoy good food at reasonable prices if you research well. I especially recommend the Hawker Centres, where you can try many kinds of local food. They are located in Chinatown and you can find whatever you want. I even found Michelin-starred stalls inside and the taste was really good!

Many things are well organized and comfortable for everyone in Singapore, but I felt it's more a place for business travelers rather than backpackers like me. I'll budget more next time!!
